Here is an image of a podium that I have redesigned for my group's client, Mr. Huang, using Minecraft.

Our group consisted of the following students: Michael Hardy, Chris Cervantes, Patrick Burke, and my self.

The podium itself consists of three storage compartments and an adequite surface area on the top.

This was Chris's podium design

It tweaked the original module however cept an more or less "natural" look. (also using minecraft)

The Design Elements are: -lines -space -texture - form -color -and value. The Design Principles are: -balance -emphasis -rythem -proportion -and unity

Minecraft Infulential Archeticture Assignment

This is an image portraying my structure. The clay was an substitute for Le Corbuise's concrete, the Symetry was inspired by Etienne Louis Boullee's structures, and the Windows were inspired by Antoni Gaudi's grand windows.

Ted Challenge 2012

1. The organization is about spreading word of influential topics. (they should include some information on subluminal/faster-than-light theories. Also to include F-theory and M-theory ideas supported by string theory.)

2. TED is an non profit organization devoted to spreading ideas worth spreading to the common folk. Their easy-to-use interface creates a highly efficient information bank for those who wish to withdraw data free of charge. (Interest might be your cookie and the information that comes with it however that possibility is slim.)

3. As engineers the topic areas that i believe would be of the most importance would be as follows: design, technology, entertainment, and science. Design to spark ideas and to see what has already been taken. technology to see what we have available to our disposal to create products that would spark interest which leads to the next topic. that being entertainment, entertainment in our field is extremely important because as engineers we need to know what the media as a whole takes a liking to and to incorporate this into our products. Finally science is important in our field of work in that new scientific advancements could improve our product's workability and could spark future product ideas.

4. The first out of three videos that appear to be interesting and relevent to our engineering motive. Is called Tal Golesworthy: How I repaired my own heart. The video talks about Tal whom is a boiler engineer who has had a life threatening aorta issue. His knowledge of pipes and plumbing and his doctor's medical knowledge formed a more efficent aorta repare treatment.

Egg drop results

The exterior was compromised of styrofoam. While the interior consisted of tightly compacted newspaper


Results of the drop:

The Egg as you can see was a wreak. The Styrofoam transfered the momentum to the egg itself instead of absorbing the impact. the interior that was supposed to protect the egg did not absorb the impact but transferred it. The construct as a whole acted as one construct that absorbed the full impact crushing the egg.

Achievements:
Accuracy: Our construct fell in the first ring out of five rings. Thus we also claim the second, and third ring, as well as the butcher paper achivements.
Weight: Under 150 grams. Exactly 115.4 grams. Thus we also have the under 500, 300, and 200 grams.
Drop time: about a second so as a result we can claim the following the: 2 second, 3 second, 4 second, and 5 second achievements

Khan Academy Logarithm introduction

I will be in algebra 2 trigonometry honors next year and after speaking to some students currently in the class. Have been informed that Logarithms are an important factor. Since I currently am in Geomentry this could prove to be a very helpful introduction to what is to come.

Reflection:
Logarithm (Log)-the inverse of taking an exponent of somethig.  EX: 2³=8   Log₂^8 =3

Balsa Aircraft Challenge

This activity required students to implement their knowledge to construct a efficient glider. While participating in this activity I worked with Chris Cervantes, and Patrick Burke. I helped mainly in the construct of the structure of the wings while also applying tissue paper to create an more aerodynamic frame. Even so I strongly believe that taking into consideration the results of the flight that very few if any challenges have been completed.

Our group did not have a surplus amass of existence to fine tune our craft. Speaking of which we completed the frail thing during the competition day. As a direct result of lack of motivation and concentration from team members. Our craft is as a Japanese Kamikaze during World War II were. It flew vertically with a negative slope. :(

Our group did brainstorm the design of the craft's exterior while taking consideration of the default internal structure. However the existence was not of surplus due to the constant disembodiment of individual portions of the craft. None the less we did rule out many ideals and accepted few. As a result our group did not exactly have the existence to test out our craft and fine tune the wings or the supporters for that matter.

Moneyball analysis

The Moneyball approach that Billy and Peter applied to form an amazing team is the useage of appling the OBP equation in order to calculate any potential player's on base percentage.

Design is the planned construction of an object and or system.

4) Describe 3 situations where movie characters (intentionally or not) applied a step from the PLTW 12 Step Design Process. Explain both the (a) situation as well as (b) how the step is relevant:
1 - When Billy questioned his scout's knowledge on the current problem at hand.

2 - When Peter brought the On Base Percentage equation into the search for replacement players for the Athletics.

3 - When Billy assembled his scouts inorder to discuss the problem concerning finding replacement players for the Athletics with the bare minimum in terms of budget.


5) What is “Leadership”? List the three aspects of leadership that we come up with in class. (In class research/discussion)
Leadership is the process of social influence in which one could enlist the aid of others in order to complete an common task at hand.

6) Describe 3 circumstances from the story where a character exercised effective leadership:
1 – Billy provides a sense of direction when he provoked thought when conversing with his scouts, being very firm on the analysis of the problem.

2 – Peter portrays a sense of alignment when he draws Billy to the mathematical approach to creating a great team.

3 – Billy exerts a clearly audible sense of commitment to the team in that he hired a prestigious Yale student in order to aid him in his search for players. The time invested in the search including many long nights project a sense of resolve to finish what he started. Taking in consideration the minimal budget that was presented.  



7) According to the movie, what was the A’s record at the start of their winning streak? _75__ : _50__

11) Based on your calculation, do you think the A’s got lucky or was there something to the Moneyball approach?
I believe that the Moneyball approach was a large contributing factor in that it drew out of the dark players with potential. However the players could become ill mentally or physically and that would have an direct effect on the outcome of the game.

12) Did Billy Beane strictly apply the “science” of Moneyball to his management approach? Was there an “art” to his efforts as well? Describe a circumstance where he broke from the Moneyball approach to make a positive change for the team.
 Billy did not just use the science of Moneyball but also applied art to his efforts. Billy strayed away from the Moneyball approach when he let go Giambi even though his hit percentage was excellent. This was due to the poor infulence that he created. However Peter was angry due to his potential.

The writer of "Moneyball" is, Michael Lewis. Michael in addition to Moneyball wrote the following books: The Big Shot:Inside the Doomsday Machine, Liar's Poker,


It's "Oscar Season", will Moneyball win the Oscar for any of the categories it's up for?
I do not believe that Moneyball will recieve any Oscar awards.
